Shadow Ninja 2 is a side-scrolling action game characterized by its dark art style. Players assume the role of Shimazu, a samurai whose son has been kidnapped and whose wife has been killed by the malevolent demon Takeda, aided by the demon Fudo. After having sealed away Takeda for the last ten years, Shimazu embarks on a quest for revenge and the rescue of his son. The gameplay necessitates strategic thinking and memorization, with a particular emphasis on avoiding traps.

Throughout the game, players have the opportunity to enhance Shimazu’s skills using coins and diamonds collected during gameplay. The skills available for upgrade include:

• Dash: This skill allows for close combat attacks capable of eliminating a target in one strike; however, it is ineffective for long-range engagements.
• Disappearing: This ability enables players to remain undetected as they navigate around enemies, allowing surprising strikes from hidden positions.
• Throw Shuriken: Though this attack may not defeat opponents on the first attempt, it can be employed for long-range combat, requiring one or two more throws to succeed.
• Checkpoints: While checkpoints are fixed, players can create additional checkpoints at their current location after progressing through levels, providing strategic advantages during gameplay.
